Bare Metal ISO install - Hosted Server

I'm considering a 'Hetzner' hosted server option, they have the LARA console option for custom ISO's

Mounting an ISO File:

The LARA only supports the mounting of ISO files via the SAMBA (SMB)/CIFS networking protocol.

Is SAMBA/ CIFS possible with the repository for the Fedora 23 ISO image?

Thanks for your reply.

I was wondering if this was something that could be set up on your end.

Seems silly for those who would like to set up a server in the cloud or hosted, to download an ISO, only to upload it again with a 1Mb uplink from ADSL.

I'm sure if it was offered as an option it would be used, especially in the hosted server situation I refer to.

In my case, I don't run Linux locally..so I either need to setup a linux box or run Samba for windows...over a 1 Mb up-link.

Just removes a barrier for entry, since this is not an image offered by hosting/cloud companies typically.

Cheers

If you aren't using Linux, it looks like you shouldn't have an issue setting up the CIFS share to the cloud provider. But I agree, it does seem an odd setup for a cloud provider to require a local share to their environment. You may want to email the cloud list to see about provider support.

From that webpage, they are looking for ISOs to be provided via SAMBA to the web console from your desktop. There shouldn't be a reason that you couldn't do that, the ISO is standard ISO image. This doesn't appear to be anything the ISO would need to specifically support.
